When: 17-25 July

Djerba, known in antiquity as the island of the lotus eaters, will host the 30th edition of the international Ulysses Festival from July 21 to August 4.

The session, which celebrates one of the island's most illustrious visitors, Ulysses, will begin with majestic dance display of the great Greek hero, and will include cultural and environmental elements which will highlight the island's rich civilizational heritage.

Folk troupes from India , Serbia , Greece and Italy will take part in the event, as well as several Arab and Tunisian artists such as Lotfi Bouchnak, Noura Amine, Ahmed Cherif,  and Ahmed Mejri. Finally, a one man show by the Tunisian performer Lamine Nahdi is scheduled to take place at the Houmt-Souk open air theatre.

For this year's edition, the festival organisers have decided to include a children's programme with the aim of raising their environmental awareness. The programme dubbed, "Ulysses - A Friend of the Environment" will feature a sailing competition, sea games as well as the election of festival's most beautiful siren.
